Richard Schmidt

Richard Schmidt, M.D. is the Chair of Emergency Medicine at Mercy St. Louis and serves as the Medical Director of the Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments. They completed their residency in Emergency Medicine at Washington University from 2000 to 2004 and have been an attending physician part-time in the emergency department since 2010. In addition to their clinical roles, Richard has worked as a Medical Legal Consultant since 2013 and has held various leadership positions, including System Medical Director at BJC HealthCare and Regional Medical Director at TeamHealth. Richard also has an extensive academic background with degrees in Medicine and Economics from the University of Virginia and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
