Rick Smith is the President and CEO of The Pinkerton Foundation, an independent grantmaking organization committed to supporting community-based programs for children and families in economically disadvantaged areas of New York City. Since 2010, Rick has directed the foundation's focus on youth development initiatives, particularly those that help young people realize their full potential. Prior to this role, Rick served as Editor-in-Chief and CEO of Newsweek from 1984 to 2007, receiving the MPA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. Rick's extensive experience also includes leadership positions at Temple-Inland and various other organizations, while holding board roles at companies such as Forestar Group Inc. and Videolicious.com. Rick completed a B.A. at Albion College and an MSJ at Columbia University.
