Simon Gilbert has a comprehensive background in meteorology and strategic management, with significant experience at the Met Office since June 2014, where roles have included Head of Defence Futures, Head of Defence Business, and Strategic Account Manager for the MOD. Prior to this, Simon Gilbert was with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills as Head of the PWS CG Secretariat from February 2013 to May 2014. Earlier experience at the Met Office included positions as WMO Manager and Meteorological Trainer, where Simon Gilbert developed and delivered training packages for students both domestically and internationally. Simon Gilbert holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Mathematics from Newcastle University, earned between 1996 and 1999.
