Simon McLellan

Simon McLellan has extensive experience in data management and environmental science, currently serving as Head of Data at the Met Office since September 1989. In this role, Simon leads the Head of Climate Programmes for Government and serves as Data Policy Manager, overseeing the Environmental Science to Services Partnership (ESSP) involving six major UK public sector organizations. Simon has also held various leadership positions including Head of IT (Core Data) and Head of Plans and Performance. In addition to responsibilities at the Met Office, Simon serves as Coordinator for the Implementation of the WMO Unified Data Policy at the World Meteorological Organization since October 2022. Simon holds a BSc Hons in Mathematics from Newcastle University.
