William Ruhlen has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 1999, they worked as a Kitchen Prep and Closing Manager at Columbia Pizza. From 2002 to 2003, they served as a Web Design Assistant at Ohio Northern University. In 2003, they held multiple roles, including Assistant Director of Bands at Kenton City Schools and Stock Room Clerk at Sears and Roebuck Co. From 2003 to 2009, they worked at Ada Exempted Village Schools, where they served as the Director of Bands and Theater Technical Director. During this time, they managed technical aspects, sound and lighting design, and equipment maintenance for productions. From 2009 to 2012, they were the Vocal Director at Mechanicsburg Exempted Village School District, responsible for instructing Grades 7-12 vocal ensembles and assisting with band-related activities. Additionally, they increased the enrollment in the High School choir through recruitment and retention strategies. From 2017 to 2020, they served as an IT Operations/AV Technician at Marysville Exempted Village Schools. Currently, they hold the role of Information Technology Field Technician at META Solutions (Metropolitan Educational Technology Association) since September 2020.

William Ruhlen has a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Ohio Northern University, which they completed between 1998 and 2002. William later pursued a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Educational Technology at Ball State University from 2011 to 2012.
