Aaron Havens

Postdoctoral Researcher

Aaron Havens is an accomplished researcher and engineer with extensive experience in robotics and artificial intelligence. Havens has held positions such as Engineering Intern in the Robotics Division at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where involvement included multi-agent robotics projects, and as a NASA-UI Fellow focused on tracking natural gas plumes using quadcopters. Additional internships include research in model-based reinforcement learning at Preferred Networks, development of autonomous semi-truck control algorithms at TuSimple, and a current role as Research Scientist Intern at Meta in fundamental AI research. Havens is also pursuing a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, following a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the same institution and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University, where honors were achieved.
