Ajay Thampi

Ajay Thampi is a highly experienced professional in the field of data science and machine learning, currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist at Meta since April 2020, focusing on modern recommendation systems for Facebook and Instagram. Previously, Ajay held positions at Microsoft as a Lead Data Scientist, at Tractable as a Senior Data Scientist leading data science efforts, and at OpenSignal as a Data Scientist. Ajay has also contributed to academic advancements as a Visiting Scholar at the Institute of Network Coding, and has research experience from a student researcher role at Nokia Siemens Networks. Early career included roles at Agilent Technologies as an R&D Engineer, where Ajay led the development of a solution for 4G LTE networks, and as a Software Engineer intern at TuVox Inc. Ajay holds a BEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National University of Singapore, a degree in Entrepreneurship and Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University, and a PhD in Signal Processing and Wireless Communications from the University of Bristol.
