Akul Gupta

Akul Gupta is a skilled software engineer currently working at Meta in the Reality Labs division since March 2025. Prior experience includes a role as a computer vision engineer at 8th Wall, where significant improvements were made to scale prediction errors in VIO-SLAM applications. Akul also worked at Niantic, Inc., focusing on computer vision algorithms for AR/XR applications. Prior positions include a machine learning internship at the Allen Institute, where research was conducted on RNN models and brain connectivity, as well as an AI researcher role at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an internship at UC Santa Barbara, where visualization of large knowledge graphs was developed. Akul holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz, completed in 2020.
