Alvin Dai

Alvin Dai is a Computer Science student at the University of Waterloo, expected to graduate in 2025. Alvin has gained diverse software development experience through multiple internships, including a role as a Software Developer Intern at Trend Micro, where involvement was with the Cloud Container Security team on a vulnerabilities scanning feature showcased at AWS:reInforce. Additionally, Alvin has served as a SHAD Fellow, participating in an elite program for Canadian youth focused on entrepreneurship and experiential learning. Internship experiences also include positions at Cisco, where contributions were made to manage development workflows, and at SideFX Software, where a collision avoidance model for crowd agents was developed. Future positions include a Software Engineering Co-op at Verkada, focusing on semantic search capabilities, and as an AI Full-Stack Engineering Co-op at Pienso, creating an NLP platform utilizing large language models. Currently, Alvin holds a position as a Software Engineer at Meta since July 2025.
