Andrea Simonelli is an accomplished researcher with a robust background in deep learning, computer vision, and image-based 3D object detection. Simonelli completed a PhD at the University of Trento from November 2018 to April 2022, co-funded by Mapillary Research and Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), focusing on significant advancements in the field. Prior to the PhD, Simonelli interned at FBK in 2016, developing firmware for video acquisition, and contributed to a publication on convolutional neural networks. In addition, Simonelli interned at Meta in 2021, engaging in a project that integrated 3D object detection with neural radiance fields, resulting in a publication at CVPR22. Simonelli holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Trento.
