Bi Xue is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in recommendation systems, machine learning, and search technologies. Bi Xue's tenure at Meta from June 2016 to November 2022 included roles as Director of Engineering and Tech Director for the Recommendation team, overseeing the entire recommendation system for Instagram and Facebook while leading innovations in modeling and GPU training. Additional responsibilities included managing an organization of around 110 engineers for the Messaging Platform and supporting a team focused on enhancing Facebook Search quality through advanced NLP techniques. Prior to Meta, Bi Xue worked at Microsoft from April 2007 to May 2016 as a Principal Software Engineer, contributing to Bing Search Index Serving and various deep learning projects. Bi Xue holds a Master’s degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Bachelor’s degree in Automation from Zhejiang University.
