BJ Malicoat is an experienced software engineer and technical leader with a diverse background in game development and augmented reality. At Aspen Micro, BJ built a scalable Slack application utilizing Rust, which was deployed to over 200 teams. As the owner of Bird Cartel, BJ released two mobile games, Pine Tar Poker and Well Word, both of which received notable features by Apple and TouchArcade. Prior experience includes serving as Technical Director at very very spaceship, where BJ led a large engineering team in developing a geolocated AR Transformers game in partnership with Niantic Labs. BJ's tenure at Microsoft involved key contributions to Xbox’s ambitious E3 booth and leadership on the Xbox Mixed Reality Team, focusing on metaverse concepts. Other roles include owning Digiot, a mobile game company, and a senior software engineering position at Hulu. Currently, BJ is a Software Engineer at Meta, working on AR Glasses. BJ holds a degree from Michigan State University.
