Chao Luo

Chao Luo is an accomplished machine learning researcher with extensive experience in both academia and industry. Chao began a career in technology with an internship at IBM in 2015, focusing on customer behavior analytics. Subsequently, a summer internship at HERE Technologies involved developing a web application and implementing a distributed computing platform for traffic management. As an Applied Researcher at eBay from 2017 to 2019, Chao utilized machine learning to enhance marketing efficiency. At Meta, Chao advanced from Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist, leading initiatives on knowledge graphs and topic prediction for Facebook Groups and Events, to Staff Machine Learning Research Scientist, spearheading the development of a LLaMA chat model for user-bot conversation safety evaluation. Chao holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, graduating first in class, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, with a GPA of 3.9/4.0.
