Chao Yang

Chao Yang possesses a robust background in machine learning, natural language processing, and software engineering, with experience spanning several key positions in academia and industry. From August 2010 to May 2015, Chao served as a Research Assistant at The University of Iowa, focusing on machine learning and text mining for social media. During a summer internship at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in 2014, Chao contributed to a predictive model for brand preferences, which was showcased in an accepted paper at EMNLP 2015. Previous roles include internships at Nuance Communications and IBM, as well as managing an applied science team at Amazon from October 2019 to September 2021, driving improvements in search functionality. Currently, Chao holds the position of Software Engineering Manager focused on machine learning initiatives at Meta, beginning in September 2021. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Iowa and two degrees in Software Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology.
