Eiichiro Omata

Eiichiro Omata serves as the Public Policy Manager and Acting Head of Public Policy in Japan for Meta since August 2020, representing the organization in various regulatory affairs, including civil diplomacy, competition policy, and privacy issues. Prior to this role, Eiichiro Omata was with Facebook in a similar capacity, managing public policy aspects for the platform in Japan. From June 2009 to December 2020, Eiichiro Omata held multiple positions at the Japan Fair Trade Commission, including Deputy Director of the Competition Advocacy Division and Deputy Director of the Merger Review Division, where responsibilities included spearheading competition advocacy and overseeing merger reviews. Earlier experience includes serving as the First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan, acting as a liaison between the JFTC and U.S. competition authorities while conducting research on antitrust laws and policies.
