Emil Tsalapatis

Postdoctoral Researcher

Emil Tsalapatis is a dedicated researcher with experience in both academic and applied settings. Tsalapatis served as an intern at The University of Kiel, collaborating with PhD students on algorithm development and implementation using the IBM CPLEX software suite. As a teaching assistant at the Computing Systems Laboratory, NTUA, responsibilities included supporting students in the Operating Systems course, focusing on Linux system calls, process management, and synchronization mechanisms. Tsalapatis is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, with a thesis on "Persistence as an Operating System Service," under the supervision of Ali José Mashtizadeh. Recently, Tsalapatis joined Meta as a postdoctoral researcher working on the sched_ext project within the Kernel Team. Educational background includes a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and completion of high school at Athens College.
