Eric Fest

Optical Scientist

Eric Fest has extensive experience in optical engineering, having held significant roles in prominent organizations. From October 1997 to October 2002, Eric served as a Senior Engineer/Optical Analysis at Optical Research Associates, developing software for LightTools and CODE V. Prior to that, Eric worked at Hughes Aircraft Company as a System Engineer II, focusing on stray light analysis software. Between October 2002 and November 2017, Eric advanced to Engineering Fellow and Optics Section Head at Raytheon, where responsibilities included the development of optical systems for space and missile applications. Currently, Eric is an Optical Scientist at Meta and Principal Engineer at Phobos Optics LLC, providing consulting services for stray light and scatter analysis. Additionally, Eric has been an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Arizona since April 2022. Eric holds a BS in Optical Engineering, an MS in Electrical Engineering, and a PhD in Optics, all from the University of Arizona and the University of Southern California.
