Gene Hwang

Gene Hwang has extensive legal expertise in corporate law and technology, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, securities law, and product counsel in the tech industry. Hwang began as an Associate at Ropes & Gray LLP from September 2007 to March 2011, working on private equity transactions and securities matters. Subsequently, Hwang served as an Associate at K&L Gates from March 2011 to February 2014, continuing in the same fields. After a tenure as Corporate Counsel at Amazon from February 2014 to September 2017, supporting device sales and the Alexa legal team, Hwang advanced to Meta where responsibilities included leadership roles as Associate General Counsel for Reality Labs and AR/VR Hardware Platform, overseeing the legal aspects of smart glasses products, including significant collaborations and technology features. Hwang holds a JD (magna cum laude) from New York University School of Law and a BA in English Language & Literature from Yale University.
