Gerhard Schneider is an accomplished software architect and engineer with extensive experience in graphics and operating systems. Between 2005 and 2007 at Microsoft, Schneider led the Windows Graphics Team, developing the Composition Engine for the Desktop Window Manager and overseeing the creation of the Windows 8 Metro-style XAML applications Graphics Stack. Schneider also contributed to various projects, including HoloLens, where leadership involved guiding the software design for hardware processing units and performance optimization for augmented reality devices. Transitioning to Oculus VR from 2020 to 2023, Schneider served as Director of Engineering, managing critical components of the VR Application Platform. Currently, Schneider works at Meta as a Software Architect focused on wearables and augmented reality systems. Schneider holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Universität des Saarlandes.
