Giovanni Cioffi

Giovanni Cioffi is a PhD student at the Robotics and Perception Group at the University of Zurich, focusing on robust perception and state estimation for autonomous robots, particularly in challenging conditions for vision-based estimators. Cioffi's research experience includes a project on multi-sensor fusion for millimeter-accurate Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) at the University of Zurich, and has also served as a student research assistant at ETH Zurich, engaging in projects involving Arduino and various sensors. Prior experience as a Production Engineer Intern at Avio Aero involved redesigning a production line for turbine combustors, while a research internship at ABB included machine learning for human-robot contact detection. Additional current experience as a Research Scientist Intern at Meta involves 3D mapping for egocentric vision. Cioffi holds an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zürich and two degrees in Industrial Engineering from Università degli Studi di Napoli 'Federico II'.
