Gruff Williams

Gruff Williams is an experienced legal professional with a diverse background in both private practice and in-house roles. Williams began legal training as a stagiaire at the European Commission, working on competition law, before further developing expertise as a trainee solicitor at Covington & Burling LLP, with a focus on dispute resolution and EU regulatory issues. Following qualification, Williams joined the firm's Corporate and Commercial team, gaining extensive transactional experience. A transition to the pharmaceutical sector occurred at MSD, where Williams handled agreements related to intellectual property rights. Subsequent roles included serving as Commercial Counsel at Facebook and currently as Associate General Counsel at Meta. Williams also has a foundation in research and production, having worked on live sports broadcasts and contributed to academic studies on legislation and education. An educational background includes a First Class LLB from UCL and a BCL from the University of Oxford.
