Heather M. Patterson, Ph.D. is an experienced professional specializing in cognitive neuroscience, law, technology, and public policy. From September 2000 to December 2006 at the University of Washington, Heather conducted research on cognitive and neural correlates of visual attention, object recognition, motion perception, and language comprehension. Subsequent roles include drafting whitepapers and model legislation at the Samuelson Law, Technology, & Public Policy Clinic at UC Berkeley School of Law, and leading research initiatives on user-centered mobile health products at New York University School of Law. At Intel Labs from April 2016 to April 2020, Heather co-led the Responsible AI Strategy and conducted privacy research focusing on bias and equity. Most recently, Heather held managerial positions at Meta, overseeing product risk, social impact programs, and responsible innovation efforts in response to privacy and competition regulations. Education was completed at the University of California, Berkeley between 2009 and 2012.
