James Jun

James Jun is an Applied Research Scientist at Meta, specializing in machine learning research and development aimed at creating product-grade wearable devices for AR/VR hardware. Prior to this role, James worked as a Research Scientist at the Flatiron Institute, where scalable cloud-based frameworks for neural data analysis were designed, along with developing SpikeForest for neural signal classification. As a Consulting Scientist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, James created JRCLUST for real-time neural signal processing with GPU acceleration, enhancing spike-sorting techniques. Additionally, a Postdoctoral Associate position involved collaboration with several institutions to develop a large-scale extracellular neural recording device. James holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics Honors and Computer Science from the University of Calgary.
