Applied Research Scientist At Meta Reality Labs (wearable AI Products)

James Jun, PhD, is an applied research scientist at Meta Reality Labs since May 2020, specializing in machine learning (ML) research and the development of wearable AI products for augmented and virtual reality hardware. Prior to this role, James served as a research scientist at the Flatiron Institute, Columbia University, from February 2018 to May 2020, where contributions included designing scalable frameworks for neural recordings and developing SpikeForest, an algorithm benchmarking platform for neural signal classification. Earlier experience includes work as a consulting scientist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from September 2014 to January 2018, where James developed JRCLUST for real-time neural signal processing and implemented unsupervised learning algorithms. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor's degree in Physics Honors and Computer Science from the University of Calgary.
