Jason Dong

Jason Dong is a highly skilled software engineer with extensive experience in leading engineering efforts across several prominent technology companies. At SmartNews, Jason served as a tech lead for the Vertical Feed Ranking & Content Quality Team, coordinating with the AI Infra Team to optimize model serving and embeddings. Prior to that, Jason held the position of Applied Scientist at Microsoft, focusing on graph model research and content understanding. At Riot Games, Jason led initiatives to enhance Reinforcement Learning (RL) training and model scaling for arcade fighting games. Currently, as a software engineer at Meta, Jason applies reinforcement learning techniques to optimize ad ranking and delivery, employing parameter-efficient fine-tuning methods. Jason holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Penn State University, a Master's degree in Statistics from the University of Washington, and is pursuing a PhD in Machine Learning with a focus on Information Retrieval and Computational Social Sciences at the same institution.
