Jian Liu

Jian (Jay) Liu is a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and genetics. Currently serving as a Machine Learning Engineer at Meta since December 2021, Jian focuses on detecting spam and engagement abuse activities. Previous roles include Data Scientist at SAS, where Jian developed machine learning models for detecting bank transaction fraud, and Genetics Scientist at Pathway Genomics Corporation, leading phenotype design and genetic data curation for expanded carrier screening tests. Jian's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology from Wuhan University. Additionally, Jian has served in various research and scientific capacities, including as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Project Scientist at the University of California San Diego.
