Jianwei Yang

Jianwei Yang is a seasoned Research Scientist at Meta since May 2025, focusing on building multimodal agentic AI foundations. Prior to Meta, Jianwei served as Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research from March 2020 to June 2025, where leadership in developing multimodal agentic models led to state-of-the-art advancements in multimodal image and video understanding and agentic tasks, as well as significant contributions as a Senior Researcher in creating unified and interactive dense vision models. Jianwei holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has also pursued doctoral studies in Artificial Intelligence at Virginia Tech, complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering from Central South University and a foundational education at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
