Jonathan Smith

Jonathan Smith is a skilled professional with a diverse background in both the film industry and technology. As co-founder and film producer at Smith & West Productions from January 2012 to September 2014, Jonathan initiated and developed a film company focused on narrating the stories of global non-profits, producing 30 short films in multiple languages that were screened internationally. Following this, Jonathan gained experience as a software engineering intern at Interset, where work centered on machine learning applications to combat intellectual property theft. In 2019, Jonathan served as a PeaceTech Community Program Designer at Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement. Jonathan continued to advance in the field of machine learning as a scientist at Layer 6 AI, concentrating on ML interpretability and time-series applications until 2021, when Jonathan joined Meta as a machine learning engineer focusing on social impact initiatives. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Waterloo.
