Jonathan Tang is an experienced engineering manager with a strong background in software development and privacy technology. Currently serving as the Engineering Manager for the Messenger Privacy team at Meta since October 2018, Jonathan successfully led the transition to end-to-end encryption, securing the privacy of over 1 billion users. Previous experience includes a role as Senior Software Engineer at Informatica, where Jonathan contributed to the development of PowerChannel and received the Outstanding Award. At Bertelsmann, Jonathan worked on an online bookselling system, and at Microsoft, held various roles including Principal Engineering Manager, leading the development of a new cross-platform Office add-in framework and the creation of Microsoft Forms. Jonathan holds a Bachelor's degree in Automatic Control from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from Manhattan College (4.0 GPA), and was a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, with a GPA of 3.75.
