Lance Chao

Lance Chao is a Senior Software Engineer at Meta, having transitioned from a Software Engineering Intern in 2016. Currently, Lance works on the Shard Manager, focusing on scaling customer use cases and managing a vast number of shards across servers. Key contributions include revamping a scheduler for improved performance and leading a team to rebuild a load balancing component to meet evolving demands. Prior experience includes teaching major operating system concepts as a Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech and conducting research on malware collusion in Android devices. Lance holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, obtained in 2016.
