Lu Yuan is an experienced research professional with a strong background in computational photography and artificial intelligence. Lu served as Principal Research Manager at Microsoft, leading various teams in the development of advanced technologies, including the Computational Photography team at Microsoft Research Asia and the Visual Intelligence Research team within Azure Cloud & AI. Notable achievements include the creation of pioneering vision foundation models such as Florence-1 and Florence-2, which support multiple Microsoft products. After transitioning to Meta in August 2024 as Research Scientist Manager for GenAI, Lu focuses on Llama Image Post-training. Lu holds a PhD in Computer Science from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Tsinghua University.
