Michael Matheny

Michael Matheny is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in machine learning and data science. Currently serving as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Meta, Michael focuses on enhancing supervised fine-tuning and Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) for the Llama series models. Prior to this role, Michael was an Applied Scientist II at Amazon, contributing to the Softlines Discovery team and working on fraud prevention machine learning models with the Buyer Risk Prevention team. Additional experience includes a Graduate Research Internship at Sandia National Laboratories, research assistant roles at the University of Utah and University of Delaware where significant contributions were made to algorithm development and optimization frameworks, and a research position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
