Patrick Johnstone

Patrick Johnstone possesses extensive experience in machine learning and computational imaging. Current role as a Machine Learning Engineer at Meta began in September 2023, following a tenure as a Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where work focused on developing distributed optimization algorithms for exascale HPCs. Prior to this, Patrick served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Rutgers University, contributing to the theory of first-order iterative optimization algorithms. Experience also includes research internships at Qualcomm and Rambus, under renowned experts in the field. Patrick holds a Ph.D. and Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of New South Wales, where recognition included the University Medal.
