Peter Hedman

Peter Hedman is a highly experienced research scientist with extensive expertise in computational photography and software engineering. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Meta since October 2025, Peter previously held roles at Google DeepMind as a Senior Research Scientist and at Google as a Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist. Additional experience includes a PhD research internship at Facebook focusing on Casual 3D Photography and a contingent worker position at Facebook where Instant 3D Photography was developed. Earlier in the career, Peter worked at NVIDIA as a Systems Software Engineer and a Software Engineering Intern, contributing to projects involving advanced graphics technologies. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Helsinki, a Master of Science degree from the University of Helsinki, and a Doctor of Philosophy from UCL, all in Computer Science.
