Peter Straka is an accomplished statistics researcher with extensive experience in academia and industry. At UNSW, Straka served as a Lecturer in Statistics from July 2013 to December 2015, producing top-ranking research output, developing courses in machine learning and applied statistics, and leading student projects for major banks. As a Senior Research Fellow at UNSW Australia from January 2016 to February 2019, Straka led an independent research team focusing on computational statistics, developed popular R-packages and Shiny applications, and contributed to significant public health research projects. Additionally, Straka has held positions as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Michigan State University and The University of Manchester, where key work involved modeling ultrasound and developing algorithms for interacting particle systems. Currently, Straka is a Research Scientist at Meta, contributing to core data science efforts.
