Robert Luan currently serves as a Member of Technical Staff at Meta in the Robotics Studio since August 2025. Prior experience includes leading product design as Head of Product Design at Quilt, where Robert successfully launched the Quilt Indoor and Outdoor Units within 15 months, focusing on efficiency and aesthetics. Before that, Robert held the position of Staff Manager in Robot Engineering at Nuro, overseeing the engineering design of robotic systems for the R2 and R3 platforms. Earlier roles featured being a Senior Product Design Engineer at Apple, contributing to the launches of the iPhone X and 11, and a Mechanical Design Engineer at Microsoft, where Robert worked on the Surface Pro 4 and Surface 3. Robert began the career as a Research Assistant at the Biomimetic Millisystems Laboratory after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with an EECS Minor from the University of California, Berkeley.
