Samarth Thopaiah

Samarth Thopaiah has a diverse background in research and engineering, with significant experience in audio processing and machine learning. Notable positions include Summer Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, where a speaker independent audio mixture separation technique was developed, and Research Engineer at Samsung Research America, from June 2023 to July 2025. Additional roles include Graduate Teaching Assistant in Digital Signal Processing at Carnegie Mellon University, and internships at Li2, Indian Institute of Science, and Dolby Laboratories, where various sound technology projects were undertaken. Samarth holds a Master's degree in Music and Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Ramaiah Institute of Technology. Current position as an Audio Applied Scientist at Meta began in July 2025.
