Sameer Shankar

Sameer Shankar is an accomplished data scientist and educator with a strong background in machine learning and data analysis. Currently serving as a Data Labeling Analyst II at Meta, Sameer has previously held positions as a Senior Tutor at the AMS of UBC Vancouver, a Data Scientist at BC Cancer, and an intern at the Greenbridge School of Open Technologies. Notable achievements include developing algorithms that achieved a 72% accuracy rate for cluster identification and obtaining over 95% accuracy in predicting histology and therapy outcomes using NLP methods at the UBC Data Science Institute. Sameer has also contributed to the UBC Bionics project by implementing neural networks for prosthetic applications and has experience in budget analysis as a Data Analyst for the Vancouver School of Economics Undergraduate Society. Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Combined Major in Statistics and Economics from The University of British Columbia, anticipated in 2024.
