Shane X. is a highly experienced data scientist with a strong background in computational science and democracy studies. Following a PhD from UC San Diego, where Shane served as a Jacobs Endowed PhD Fellow from 2016 to 2022, Shane transitioned to Meta, leading data science initiatives on election products from February 2022 to February 2023. Currently, as the Data Science Tech Lead at Youth Regulatory Readiness, Shane drives strategies to create safe online experiences for teens and also leads projects focused on enhancing safety and well-being for this demographic. Prior experience includes an internship building machine learning models for Facebook Groups and a data scientist internship at Facebook in 2020. Shane holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science from Wabash College.
