Shawn Schaerer

Shawn Schaerer is a seasoned software engineering manager with extensive experience in robotics and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as a Software Engineering Manager at Meta since May 2022, Schaerer leads AI initiatives in XR. Schaerer founded and served as CEO of Northstar Robotics Inc from February 2016 to May 2022, developing autonomous systems for off-highway applications. Previous roles include Technical Lead Robotics at Modbot, Senior Manager Software Engineering at Medrobotics Corporation, and CTO at LumoPlay Inc. With a strong foundation in control systems and robotics from positions at IMRIS and Cogmation Robotics, Schaerer holds a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, and a Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology from reputable institutions.
