Simon Venshtain

Simon Venshtain is a highly experienced software engineer currently working at Meta since July 2023. Prior to this role, Venshtain served as CTO and held various engineering positions at 8i from September 2019 to May 2023. Venshtain was also the Head of Research at Jaunt XR, overseeing R&D in real-time volumetric capture pipelines until the company's acquisition by Verizon. At Personify Inc, Venshtain was Director of Research and CTO, leading projects in real-time holographic capture and streaming, and worked at Qualcomm Innovation Center Inc in multiple roles, including Director of Engineering and Senior Software Engineer, focusing on graphics software optimization for mobile GPUs. Venshtain began a career in academia as a graduate teaching assistant and researcher at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where Venshtain also obtained both an MS and a BS in Computer Engineering.
