Sumedh Pendurkar

Sumedh Pendurkar is an experienced Research Scientist at Meta, focusing on improving attention-based recommendation systems since June 2025. Previously, Sumedh was a Visiting Student at the University of Alberta in May 2023 and has held various positions, including Research Intern at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and Club Secretary at COEP's Data Science Artificial Intelligence Club. An internship as a Machine Learning Scientist at Niantic, Inc. included work on Meta Game Optimization, while an AI Researcher Intern role at Decompute led to significant improvements in memory usage and processing time for machine learning models. Sumedh served as a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at Texas A&M University, supporting courses in data mining, machine learning, and deep reinforcement learning under the supervision of Dr. Guni Sharon. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering from the College of Engineering Pune and a PhD in Computer Science from Texas A&M University.
