Suwon Shon

Suwon Shon is an accomplished AI Research Scientist currently working at Meta since November 2024. Prior to this role, Suwon held the position of Senior Research Scientist at ASAPP from February 2020 to October 2024, and served as a Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from July 2017 to February 2020, contributing to the Spoken Language Systems group under Dr. James Glass. Suwon also completed a Postdoctoral Associate position at MIT CSAIL and worked as a Research Associate and Graduate Research Assistant at Korea University from March 2010 to June 2017. Notable early experience includes a visiting role at The University of Texas at Dallas in 2016, internship at Samsung Techwin focusing on gesture recognition, and mandatory military service in the Republic of Korea Army. Suwon Shon earned a Ph.D. in Electronics, Electrical and Computer Engineering from Korea University in 2017, following a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution in 2010.
