Varad Deshmukh

Varad Deshmukh is a seasoned professional in machine learning and computer science with extensive experience in both academic and industry settings. Currently serving as a Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist at Meta since February 2025, Varad specializes in AI/ML applications for harm detection on the Facebook Developer Platform. Previously, Varad held positions as a Machine Learning Research Scientist at Meta, a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder, and completed internships at notable companies including Qualcomm Innovation Center Inc and Tata Computational Research Labs. Varad's educational background includes a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, complemented by a solid foundation in computer engineering.
