Yimin Tan

Yimin Tan is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in machine learning and product development. From September 2010 to December 2013, Yimin served as a graduate research assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, focusing on semi-supervised learning, active learning, and social media analysis. A software engineering internship at Facebook in 2012 involved predicting user behavior for news feeds using machine learning techniques. Since February 2019, Yimin has held the position of Senior Staff Software Engineer at Meta, leading the development of a flagship recommendation product in Facebook News Feed and contributing to significant advancements in machine learning modeling and system architecture. Prior to this role, Yimin worked as a Staff Software Engineer and tech lead at Twitter from March 2014 to February 2019, where efforts focused on product and platform health through machine learning infrastructure and algorithms. Yimin holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University.
