Youmin Wang

Applied Research Scientist

Youmin Wang is an experienced professional in the field of engineering and research, with a strong focus on MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) and optical technologies. Wang began a career as a Graduate Student Researcher at The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in micromirror design and endoscopic imaging for early cancer detection. Following this, Wang served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Berkeley, working on MEMS-based Optical Phased Arrays. As a Tech Lead Manager and Senior Staff Engineer at DiDi, Wang led a team to develop LiDAR sensors for autonomous vehicles. Additionally, Wang co-founded Raydian Inc., which developed high-performance LiDAR sensors before its acquisition by DiDi. Currently, Wang is an Applied Research Scientist at Meta, focusing on hardware research for augmented and virtual reality within the Metaverse. Previous experience includes a role as Staff Engineer at Himax, where Wang worked on MEMS Digital Micromirror Device design and characterization.
