Yu Chen has worked in the field of computer vision, graphics, and machine learning for over a decade. From 2008 to 2011, Yu Chen was a PhD student at the University of Cambridge's Department of Engineering, where they conducted research on reconstruction of complex 3D deformable and articulated objects from a single image by learning shape priors. In 2011, they joined Metail as a Research Director, leading research projects to prototype computer vision, graphics, and machine learning solutions for the online virtual fitting room system. Yu was then promoted to Lead Research Scientist, where they were responsible for technology transfer and productionizing research prototypes, as well as research grant application and management. In the same year, Yu Chen also worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Google, where they implemented and optimized the media-processor for GTalk video and audio plug-in. Finally, they were also a Research Engineer at Metail, where they were responsible for prototyping, implementation, and performance optimization of various computer vision, graphics, and machine learning solutions.
Yu Chen completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University from 2002 to 2006. Yu then went on to obtain a Master of Philosophy in Information Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2006 to 2008. Finally, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering from the University of Cambridge from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, Yu Chen has obtained several certifications from Duolingo in 2016, including Maîtrise de l'espagnol sur Duolingo: Élémentaire (estimation), Duolingo French Fluency: Intermediate (Estimated), Duolingo French Fluency: Elementary (Estimated), and Duolingo French Fluency: Beginner (Estimated).
