Lead Data Scientist at MetiStream

Mark Riley has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Mark is currently employed as the Lead Data Scientist at MetiStream since August 2022. Prior to this, from January 2022 to August 2022, they worked as a Data Scientist, specializing in Clinical Natural Language Processing (NLP), also at MetiStream.

Before joining MetiStream, Mark worked at The NorthTide Group as a Data Scientist for the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) - Walter Reed Bethesda, from February 2021 to January 2022. Their responsibilities included generating datasets from IRB-approved protocol databases for mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and psychological health (PH) research teams. Mark also performed statistical analyses, created visualizations, and utilized supervised and unsupervised data science techniques on research datasets. Additionally, Mark authored sections related to statistical approach for research manuscripts and grant proposals.

Mark's educational background includes being a graduate student pursuing an MS in Data Science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse from September 2018 to August 2020.

Earlier in their career, Mark held various roles at Cumberland starting from April 2005 as a Managing Consultant and progressing to Executive Consultant, Principal, and eventually Senior Principal.

Prior to their time at Cumberland, Mark worked as a Consultant at Clarity Consulting, Inc. from June 2004 to April 2005, and as a Senior Consultant at Capgemini from August 2001 to June 2004.

Mark's professional journey began at Applied Tech as a Consultant from December 1999 to August 2001, and before that, they worked as a Helpdesk Coordinator at Auto Glass Specialists from September 1998 to December 1999.

Mark Riley's education history begins in 1991 when they attended Cathedral Preparatory School and obtained their High School Diploma in 1995. Following that, they enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1995 to 2001, where they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Information Systems Analysis & Design. After a significant gap in education, Mark returned to their studies in 2018 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where they completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Data Science from 2018 to 2020.

In addition to their academic degrees, Mark also holds various certifications. These include the completion of the Natural Language Processing Specialization, Natural Language Processing with Attention Models, Natural Language Processing with Sequence Models, Natural Language Processing with Probabilistic Models, and Natural Language Processing with Classification and Vector Spaces courses from Coursera, all obtained between October 2021 and January 2022. Mark has also completed the Applied Data Science with Python Specialization, Applied Social Network Analysis in Python, Applied Text Mining in Python, Applied Machine Learning in Python, and Applied Plotting, Charting & Data Representation in Python courses from Coursera, completed between November 2020 and April 2021. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in April 2008, and Biomedical Investigators and Research Study Team, GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Medical Devices (U.S. FDA Focus), and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) from CITI Program, A Division of BRANY, all obtained in March 2021.
