Van Gurley

Van Gurley is the co-founder of RV Weather Enterprises, a role begun in 2023, and serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Metron, Inc., a position held since 2019. Their career includes service in the United States Navy in roles such as Director of Oceanography Operations, Antisubmarine Warfare, Naval Oceanography Operations Command; Commanding Officer, Naval Oceanography Operations Command; Director, Commander's Action Group and Special Assistant, U.S. Fleet Forces Command; Submarine Officer and Navy Oceanographer; Executive Assistant and Military Deputy for the Oceanographer of the Navy, OPNAV N2/6E; and Commanding Officer, Naval Oceanography Antisubmarine Warfare Center. They earned an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management (2016–2018), an MS in Ocean Engineering and an Engineer's degree in Ocean Engineering from MIT, and an MS in Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering and an Engineer's degree from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (1990–1992), as well as a BS in Physics from the University of Florida (1982–1986).
