Marcel Kool has extensive experience in the maritime industry, with roles ranging from mechanic to chief engineer. Marcel started their career as a maritime officer at Norfolkline-Maersk in 1996 before progressing to become a 3rd engineer and then a 2nd engineer. In 2005, they joined Stena Line as a chief engineer and worked there until 2012. Marcel then worked briefly at Chevron as a mechanic before moving on to Workfox/Seafox Contractors as a chief engineer. From 2013 to 2019, they worked as an engineer at Van Oord. In 2019, they became a ZZP/Freelance chief engineer at Kool Marine Engineers. Currently, Marcel is the chief engineer at MF Shipping Group, where they have been working since 2023.
Marcel Kool obtained a Bachelor's degree in Scheepswerktuigkundige B from Maritiem Instituut Michiel de Ruyter during the period of 1999 to 2000. Prior to that, they completed their studies as a Maritiem Officier, specializing as a 3rd Engineer A/3rd Mate, at STC Rotterdam from 1992 to 1996.
