Jon Holmes began their career in 1987 as a Senior Scientist/Engineer at Sira Ltd, where they worked on a project to develop a high speed laser scanner for inspecting semiconductor parts for IBM. After a successful 6-month secondment to IBM in the USA, they were promoted to Customer Services Manager at Image Automation Ltd, a subsidiary of Sira. In this role, Jon was instrumental in turning around the company's poor sales and customer dissatisfaction. In 2000, Jon was appointed Business Director of the Biomedical group at Sira, and was also appointed Director of the Smart Optics Faraday Partnership. In 2006, Jon left to found Michelson Diagnostics Ltd, where they served as CEO until 2015. At that point, they were succeeded by Andy Hill and became the Chief Technology Officer of the company, while remaining a member of the Board. Jon has a deep and broad knowledge of laser scanning, biophotonics and optical coherence tomography (OCT), and has a passion for the application of these technologies in products that have a real impact on society.
Jon Holmes completed their MA in Physics from the University of Cambridge between 1984 and 1987. Prior to that, they attended Godalming College where they obtained 4 'A' levels (grade A) and 1 'S' level (distinction) in Physics.
